The Diocese of Cleveland’s “Protecting God’s Children” program is a continuing effort to instruct and inform everyone about the protection of children from sexual abuse. To report any past or present suspected inappropriate behavior toward children by priests, deacons, religious, lay ecclesial ministers or personnel associated with the Church, please contact the Diocesan Response Service Office at 216-334-2999 or via email at [email protected] . You are also asked to immediately inform local authorities about inappropriate behavior.

Diocese "Protecting God's Children" Program
As part of the Cleveland Diocese’s continuing commitment to the protection of our youth, all parish volunteers who spends more that 4 hours per month with any child or group of children must comply with specific Diocesan requirements. These requirements include the following four (4) activities:
New Volunteer “To Do” List:
1. Obtain Ohio Background Check (FBI check is not necessary) . . .
Access the link below to sign up to attend a training session on child abuse protection ...
- Select "Registration" on green side bar
- Select "View" list of Sessions
- Select "Cleveland, OH" (diocese) from drop down bar
- Review places, dates, times for session
- Once decided, Start Registration
When training is completed, bring copy of completion certificate to sponsor.
3. Review the diocese video discussing the Policy for the Safety of Children in matters of Abuse by

4. Review Policy for the Safety of Children in matters of Sexual Abuse (Revised 2016).
Read the Policy document;
Sign the Acknowledgement Form, indicating you have read the Policy & agree to comply
with the Policy ... then return the signed form to the REO.
5. Review Standards of Conduct for Ministry (Revised 2016).
Read the Standards document;
Sign the Acknowledgement Form, indicating you have read, understand and agree to
abide by the standards ... then return the signed form to the REO.
