The Eucharist nourishes our life of faith. Its signs are the bread and wine we receive – the Body and Blood of Christ. “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me” Luke 22:19
WHO SHOULD RECEIVE COMMUNION
Children receive their first Communion when they have reached “the age of reason,” usually in second grade, or about age 7. When we receive Holy Communion, we are intimately united with Jesus Christ – he literally becomes part of us. And by taking Holy Communion, we express a unity of belief with the Catholic Church and our acceptance of everything she teaches. Catholics who are properly disposed to receive the sacrament are welcome to come forward.
At St Mary, the Sacrament of the Eucharist is administered in early spring to all 2nd grade students in our School and PSR Program. Sacramental Sessions are held monthly beginning in the school year to prepare those making the Sacrament of the Eucharist
Adults participating in the R.C.I.A. program receive the Eucharist on Holy Saturday and Sacramental Sessions are scheduled with our Priests, Deacon and Spiritual Team.
